The SonicDent sonic scaler is designed to use high frequency vibrations to break apart and remove harmful tartar that have hardened on the surfaces of your teeth. USAGE INSTRUCTIONS

  •  Turn on the SonicDent sonic scaler by pressing the power button located on the front side of the scaler.
  • Adjust the sonic-power mode as preferred. Higher power sonic vibrations allow for more effective calculus and stain removal, though a lower power setting may be recommended for sensitive teeth.
  • Significant build up of plaque, calculus, and tartar is usually located in between teeth and along the gum lines.
  • Standing in front of a mirror with a gentle yet firm grip, engage the handle and direct SonicDent along your gumline and interproximal areas between teeth, using light lateral pressure in painting strokes to break apart and dislodge calculus.
  • Keep the SonicDent tip moving at all times to avoid excessive pressure against a single spot.
  • For teeth with restorations such as fillings and porcelain crowns, use light pressure to avoid damaging crowns and restorative margins.
  • When finished, use clean, flowing water to rinse the metal head and wipe down the handle. The metal head can be detached to allow for easier cleaning. It is not recommended to soak the SonicDent scaler for an excessive period of time.
  • Follow up with regular flossing and brushing of teeth to rinse out remaining debris.

 PRECAUTIONS

  • SonicDent is intended for adult usage and is not recommend for kids
  • Avoid prolonged soaking or submersion of SonicDent under water.
  • Due to the internal battery, it is advised that SonicDent is not placed under direct sunlight or in high temperature environments to avoid fire and explosions.
  • SonicDent is not intended to replace your usual brushing or flossing routine, nor as a substitute to regular dental visits. However, SonicDent is intended as an adjunct to removing calculus and buildup that brushing and flossing alone cannot remove, improving your overall oral and periodontal health, and minimizing required dental work over time

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: What exactly is gum disease? What does it look like? Do I have it?

A: Gum disease generally refers to Gingivitis and Periodontitis. Both gingivitis and periodontitis involves inflammation of your gum tissues, usually due to plaque and calculus buildup. Chronic and prolonged inflammation of gum tissues cause gingivitis to progress into periodontitis, at which point bone loss occurs around your teeth. As gum disease continues to develop, the gums give off a red and puffy appearance, which is commonly associated with bleeding when brushing or flossing your teeth. Recession is commonly present, and eventually teeth become mobile and fall out. In order to reverse inflammation, it is important to remove the plaque and calculus that cause it. Once removed, the inflammation of the gum tissues should improve and return to its original state, though any bone loss that may have occurred in Periodontitis will remain. In order to find out if you have gum disease, we recommend a visit to your dentist, who may perform a clinical periodontal exam and x-rays in order to reach a definitive diagnosis.

Q. My teeth are sensitive. Does SonicDent hurt?

A: As SonicDent is designed with a medical-grade alloy tip, it is great even in cases of tooth sensitivity when following proper use of SonicDent as outlined in the "Usage Instructions". Sensitivity can also be minimized by selecting a lower intensity setting.

Q: Is SonicDent safe? Will it damage my teeth?

A: SonicDent is absolutely safe. Although the sonic scaler features high frequency sonic vibrations which are necessary to remove hardened dental calculus, proper usage as listed above in the "Usage Instructions" section will ensure that there will be no damage to natural tooth enamel or any dental restorations.

Q: Will SonicDent cause recession?

A: No. Despite our recommendation that SonicDent be used along the gingival margin (gum line) of your teeth, the intent is to clean out any calculus deposits which can commonly be found within the gingival pockets that wrap around your teeth. It is similar to removing hard, bacteria-filled splinters which have been lodged in between your teeth and the gums.

Q: I'm noticing some bleeding when using SonicDent. Is it damaging my gums?

A: Some bleeding may occur during use of SonicDent. As explained above, gingival bleeding is a common symptom of gingival inflammation. In order to treat inflammation, continued routine brushing, flossing, and removal of buildup that remain with SonicDent will suffice. If you are experiencing significant bleeding, please see your Dentist for a periodontal assessment.

Q: Can I use SonicDent on my child?

A: The SonicDent scaler is not intended for usage by children, or on deciduous teeth due to the thinner enamel of the baby teeth.

Q: Can I use SonicDent if I have crowns and bridges?

A: Yes, SonicDent is great to clean around the restorations, along the restorative margin of crowns and bridges. This is the area where the restoration meets the tooth, where harmful bacteria can commonly fester in any gaps in the margin and result in recurrent decay under the crown. The most common reason for failure of crowns and bridges is due to this recurrent decay.

Q: Can I use SonicDent if I have braces?

A: Yes. The curved and pointed tip of the SonicDent scaler will actually enable greater accessibility to clean around braces, removing plaque, buildup, or excess composite.

Q: Do I still need to brush and floss? Do I still need to go the dentist or get my teeth cleaned by a hygienist?

A: Definitely. Regular and routine dental visits and cleanings are an important part of maintaining your oral health. Hygenists are trained professionals who are licensed to use Ultra-Sonic scalers, high powered instruments which are able to thoroughly clean all deposits around your teeth. The SonicDent scaler is intended as an at-home adjunct to brushing and flossing, and is by no means a substitute or replacement. However, SonicDent use can maintain your oral health in between dental visits, shortening dental hygiene visits, reducing restorative dental work and tooth loss.

Q: How will SonicDent be shipped? How long will shipping take?

A: We are to able to offer free shipping for all orders by providing shipping via EMS from our international warehouse. In order to provide this free service, please allow for 5-7 business days for payment processing, and 7-10 business days for delivery. Tracking information will be provided after the payment has been processed and the order has been sent for dispatch.
